WELCOME

The Roman poet Horace is attributed with saying that a picture is a poem without words. Well, that's what we like to think too, although some words will be allowed (what's a card without the occasional sentiment). Welcome to the Without Words Challenge where we want you to create clean and simple cards, focusing on the image without the distractions of too many embellishments. We hope you enjoy this challenge as much as we do!

December: Christmas (Modern Look)

Yoo-hoo!  Happy 1st of December to you.  Not long to go now folks and if, like me, you are still glued to your craft desk, this is your chance to get a few more made.

Welcome to December at Without Words, and our theme this time is
Christmas (Modern Look)
It's up to you how you interpret this, but remember to keep it CAS with a hand coloured image.

Sadly last month we had several over embellished cards and as I have mentioned before, we cannot consider these entries when choosing the winners.  It's time to enforce the threat, so in future, any entries that do not comply with our simple rules will be disqualified and deleted.  Sorry it has come to this, but it's getting out of control.

Now that's over with, let's get on to the fun part.

Our sponsor this month is BUNNY ZOE'S with a £10 store voucher

NOVEMBER: Preparing for Christmas

Happy Monday everyone, and welcome to a new month and a new challenge at WITHOUT WORDS

As the big day is getting ever nearer (I'm scared how close it really is) we are all frantically making Christmas cards so this month we are helping you build up your stash with our theme of PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS
We would like to see your entries featuring Christmas preparations

Our wonderful sponsor this month is Elaine from QUIXOTIC PAPERIE
with a £10 store voucher
 Quixotic Paperie

Some of the sharp-eyed amongst you may have noticed from the last challenge that we have a new Word Bird on board but this is her first official outing.  Many of you will already know the very talented Annette (Netty's Cards) and for those who don't then you are in for a treat.  I had been after Annette for the team for a while and gradually I wore her down, lol!  Welcome hun.

I feel that I need to have this tattooed on my forehead at the moment - pleeeeeeease follow the requirements for the challenge, we had so many entries last month that didn't comply with our simple rules and they had to be discounted.  We are going to be quite strict with this in the future.

October Reminder

It's BOO as our theme this month - and the challenge runs until 6.00pm on 31 October so still time to enter.

Monday 6 October 2014

OCTOBER: Boo!

Happy October everyone and welcome to another challenge with us at Without Words

Before we get down to the nitty-gritty, we need to have another reminder about the essence of this challenge.  We want CAS cards (yep, that's clean and simple), and your image absolutely must be handcoloured (we are trying to encourage you to improve your skills after all).
We are starting to see some unwanted fluff creeping in to your entries, so please, if you get the urge to add something extra, take a deep breath and step away from the embellishments!

OK, that's the nagging over with, so let's get on with the fun!

As it is October, what better reason to have
BOO!
as our theme.  Yes, something spooky, scary or magical.  We know what the traditional scary things are, but how about using something that personally scares you (I am scared of buzzing insects and clowns - so a clown in a wasp outfit would really send me over the edge).

Our super spooky sponsor this month is
CRAFTERS COMPANION with a £10 store voucher

and here are the frightening inspiration cards from the Weird Birds

and from our newest Word Bird - Annette

Whooooooooooooo, bet you feel a bit scared now don't you.

And of course you need to know who the Winner and Top 3 are from September
with the $15 voucher from Make It Crafty

Winner of the MIC voucher is
Brigitte @ Bricolage de Brigitte

Brigitte, please email me to claim your prize - Squirrel

and our fabulous Top 3 are
Jayne @ Tea Cake And Crafting
Lisa @ Decosse's Dynamite Doodles
Kitte @ Kitten Kraftz

Congratulations to all of you!

Right then, come out from behind the sofa and share your scary stuff with us!

Hugs to all, Squirrel & The Word Weird Birds

SEPTEMBER: It's a Celebration

There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times and your laughter too
We're gonna celebrate your party with you
Celebrate!  Good Times!  Come on!
Kool & The Gang - Celebration

Hello everyone, and welcome to September!  This month we are celebrating at WITHOUT WORDS as it is out second anniversary!  So, this is your invitation to come and join us as this month's theme is (as if you hadn't guessed already) It's A Celebration!

We're not restricting to you one particular type of celebration, it could be for any occasion that brings joy or demands a party to mark the event.  As you will see from the Word Birds inspiration cards, we have celebrated many things this month.

Of course I am going to remind you about the rules, the very essence of this challenge is to encourage you to colour and to show that off with a CAS design, so if you need to refresh your memory the Rules are in our sidebar.  Just leave those pesky embellishments alone!

We are thrilled to have a sponsor with us who made one appearance last year and has now agreed to be with us more often, so a big round of applause please for MAKE IT CRAFTY

Make it Crafty

Blimey, I bet you could hear the party poppers from there!

OK, so that leaves us with just one thing to do and that is share the news of the Winner and Top 3 from our August challenge.

Winner of the Bunny Zoe voucher is
Kat W @ Paper Firefly

and our magnificent Top 3 are
Julie B @ Crafted By Jules
Dorte @ Hos Dorte
Faye @ Stampin Fluffnstuff

OK, time for you to get the balloons blown up, the party streamers flying, lots of confetti and cake, and get celebrating!  Looking forward to seeing what you make for us.

Hugs to all
Squirrel & The Word Birds
